Christopher Thomas Fieldhouse Photographer & Framemaker of Queen Street was born in Barnard Castle, Durham in 1837. He was first seen in Rasen around 1871 seen as a painter. He turned his artistic flare to photography and took many of the old photos of the town seen on postcards, many of which have been more recently posted in Market Rasen Memories. Following his death in 1903, his son C.S. Fieldhouse carried on the business at 37-39 Queen Street which developed into the Newsagents that some of you may remember.

Henry Warren was born in Suffolk in 1837. His move to Lincolnshire came sometime in the 1850s as in the 1861 Census he was seen married and living with his wife's family at Barnetby le Wold employed as a Rifle Galleryman.
By 1871 they were seen living in Queen Street (possibly no. 42 but no concrete evidence to support this at time of writing), and he was a Photographer. He then became a Licenced Victualler and was in charge of the Manchester & Sheffield Hotel (now a house on the corner of Serpentine Street and Linwood Road) from 1872 to 1881. Following this he moved to Caistor, where he died in 1907.
George Whelpton was born around 1824 in Middle Rasen. Although by trade he was a Painter & Decorator, even as early as 1856, the White's Directory also references him as a Photographer - possibly the first in Market Rasen!
As yet I have found no further references found to him being a photographer other than the card you can see to the left. He was always later seen as a Painter, House Decorator or Paper Hanger.
Photographer unknown for this elegantly dressed lady, but it shows Romney Studio, Market Rasen. I have not found any info on this so if anyone has any, please get in touch.
